Our range of services include:

The aim of our health surveillance service is to monitor and protect staff and the organisation against the risks of work related ill health and to ensure that the work is not exacerbating an individual’s pre existing health condition. This can be done by:

  • Annual health checks/Periodic health checks 
    Depending on the work hazards in a job specific role, these can include physical examination, ECG’s, hearing tests, lung function test, Bio monitoring, Heavy Metal Toxicology, immunisation status, and more. These health checks can also be combined with fitness for duty assessments and certification, asbestos medicals, and others.
  • Asbestos Medicals
    The health risks of asbestos are well recognized. Inhaling asbestos fibres can cause debilitating and life threatening lung diseases including asbestosis, lung cancer and mesothelioma. We can undertake the medical assessments required under the New Zealand Health and Safety at Work (Asbestos) Regulations 2016.
  • Health Feedback
    We can give you feedback on the overall outcome of test results. For example, a decline in hearing or lung function in the workforce may indicate that hazard controls need to be re-evaluated or upgraded.
  • Noise Management Programmes / Hearing Conservation
    We provide hearing tests to ensure you are meeting your obligations under the Approved Code of Practice for the Management of Noise in the Workplace. Testing is required where noise exposure averaged over 8 hours is more than 85dB. Annual hearing tests help to identify employees at risk to hazardous noise in the workplace and allows for any necessary action to occur - aiming to reduce permanent hearing damage.
  • Post Employment Medical Assessments

We undertake Fitness for Work Assessments or industry specific medicals to assess general health and to minimise risk and where appropriate ensure compliance with legislation.

  • Pre-Employment Assessments
    Pre-employment medical assessments help to determine whether an applicant is fit to perform their future role safely. Depending on the job role, these assessments can include certification for fitness to drive, fitness to work in heights or other role specific requirements. They may also include checking an employee’s immunisation status or require vaccinations. We work with our clients to agree the processes that fit their needs and advise on required assessments for specific roles. Ensuring that an individual is mentally and physically fit for the role they are employed to do is in the interests of both the employee and the employer.
  • Fitness for duty Assessments 
    Fitness for work assessments can include specific medicals for Drivers, Maritime and Rail medicals, Night Workers, Emergency Services, Working at Height, Safety Critical Workers, Confined Space Workers, Food Handlers, Aircrew, Divers, Seafarers, Military Service, Working with Children and Healthcare Workers. We are accredited to perform industry specific assessments like Oil and Gas UK (OGUK / UKOOA) offshore worker medicals, Maritime New Zealand, Rail and Diving Medicals. 

We are an approved collection agency compliant to AS/NZ4308:2008 standards. We can provide instant drug and alcohol tests, laboratory (ESR) and synthetic THC testing.

We are an approved provider for respiratory mask fit testing compliant to AS/NZS1715:2009 standards. We can provide annual mask fit tests and certification.

Based on the Health and Safety Act that came into force in April 2016, it is an employer’s duty to monitor employees’ exposure to risks and to know what the risks and hazards are. We can help you to obtain a safe workplace by providing:

  • Well Worker Checks
    Well worker checks protect individuals and your organisation as a whole, ensuring that your employees remain healthy and fit to perform at maximum efficiency. They can help to identify problems before they affect work, improve morale and health of your staff. These checks often include Heart check; BMI, blood pressure, total cholesterol and blood sugar level
  • Travel Health Services and Vaccination (including Flu)
    We can provide influenza vaccinations for your workforce aiming to reduce the impact of an influenza epidemic on your business. We can also provide individualised travel advice and vaccinations to protect those travelling overseas. 
  • Managing Attendance 
    Poor attendance costs employers money and reduces employee engagement and morale. High employee attendance should be the aim. We help you reach this goal by finding ways to improve work morale and encourage attendance to save you money in the long run.

The beneficial impact of work on health has been long known and we are committed to working as part of our client’s team to help change cultural perceptions about sickness absence. We work proactively with our clients to prevent work related ill health and ensure that there are positive strategies in place for Early Intervention.

Our goal is to ensure that employees are supported as early as possible to prevent the risk of them slipping into long term absence. We offer:

  • FAST TRACK return-to-work PROGRAMME 
    Take advantage of our close liaison with the GP’s in our clinic. Your employee can be seen on the day of injury by our occupational health team to discuss alternative duties or options for him/her to return to work as soon as possible. This reduces sick days and saves you money.
  • Return-to-Work Assessments and Rehabilitation Advice
  • Regular Health Meetings

  • Medico legal assessments including ACC assessments
    We hold contracts with ACC to undertake AMA 4 Impairment Assessments, Initial Medical Assessment and Vocational Independence Medical Assessments. We can accept referrals from a GP under Southern Cross or ACC for covered injuries where rehabilitation advice or assessment of return to work is needed. We also consider referrals from insurers and employers where required.
  • Immigration Medicals 
    We provide immigration examinations for Immigration New Zealand and various other countries through our affiliated GP practice in Rotorua.
